It has 5 separate vignette compartments. The shadowbox hung on a kitchen wall in an old farmhouse in Northern California for several decades; it was given to my mother by her mother before she passed; we know it is older than 1950's, but unsure exactly how old - but the 1950's era is the first memory of it my mother had. It is very old but still sturdy. One of the compartments is wallpapered and has some glue residue from where dried beans and a little metal grinder had been glued down; see photos. The cabinet finish has a few small dings but the original glass is intact and free of damage.
To decorate the vignettes the base comes off, the glass slides out (as shown in the last photo), the items are glued in, and the glass and base reassembled; finally just glue and / or tack the base on and shelve it or hang it - very cool old piece.
It measures 11 5/8" x 10" overall and the interior space measures 8" x 9" [29.5 x 25.4 cm and 20.3 x 22.9 cm].
